A Call For Prayer On May 13

Latest Testimony on 13/5/09.

Prayer Changes Things

In 2 Chronicles 7:14, God says, “ If my people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Many were at DUMC last night for an Inter-Church and Inter-Denomination Prayer Gathering for our nation. It was so encouraging to hear that Senior Pastors, Pastors and Church Leaders from various churches from around KL & PJ went for a Prayer Walk along the streets of KL & PJ yesterday (13/5/09), even under the very hot sun.

After a time of worship and a short sharing by Rev Mark Geppert who is known to have done a Prayer Walk for our nation from JB to KB, 8 distinguished Pastors from different denominations, were called upon to lead in prayer for different areas for our nation.

It was most encouraging to see the AG Superintendant, Rev Ong Sek Liang, praying for the Churches, Pastors and Church Workers in Malaysia. Bishop Ng from the Anglican Church and also the Head of the Christian Federation of Malaysia, closed the meeting with a prayer of blessing for those present and for the nation.

Although our Church did not participate in the prayer event, it was encouraging to see a number of Calvarites at the meeting.

Today (14/5/09), is the dawn of a new generation (in Biblical perspective) for Christians in Malaysia. We can expect God to bless us as a nation and as individuals. Let us all be encouraged, be blessed and choose to be the salt and the light for God in Malaysia.

Jeremiah 33 : 2 - 3
"This is what the Lord says, He who made the earth, the Lord who formed it and established it - the Lord is His name :'Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."

Jeremiah 29 : 11 - 14, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you."

THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE MAY 13 1969 RIOTS

This coming May 13 marks the 40th anniversary of the darkest hour in the history of our nation of Malaysia.

May 13, 1969 was the day when hundreds of peace-loving Malaysians of various races went berserk and slaughtered one another in a racial unrest never seen before in our land. No Malaysian of whichever race, colour or creed could have imagined that our long harmonious and peaceful co-existence could be shattered in a matter of hours.

But the senseless killings did happen, innocent blood was shed. It did have an impact on the people and on the nation. The course of history did change.

The May 13 incident led to the changing of the guard. The then first Prime Minister wept before the nation, took responsibility (though no fault of his) and stepped down. Tun Abdul Razak took over as the second Prime Minister.

The aftermath of the racial riots witnessed the gradual rebuilding of trust among the races and we thank God that peace among the races has generally reigned since then. The country has developed much in the last 40 years but not without our share of political and economic turmoil, social problems and occasional racial tensions (thankfully non-violent) interspersed throughout the period.

Could our nation have done better if there had not been a May 13 incident? Many Malaysians including Christians think so. Many believe that the shedding of innocent blood in the May 13 incident has in some ways hindered the blessings of God on our land.

This year, we also witnessed another changing of guard. The recent resignation of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi to give way to Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak to become the 6th Prime Minister of Malaysia is no co-incidence. Datuk Seri Najib is the son of Tun Abdul Razak and is the second generation leader. It is also not a co-incidence that immediately after assuming the premiership, Datuk Seri Najib introduced his vision of 1Malaysia, a nation with one identity and with equal opportunities for all Malaysians. This may just be the dawn of a new era for our nation.

In biblical perspective, 40 years is one generation. This coming May 13 completes 40 years since the May 13 incident in 1969.

The number 40 holds great significance throughout the Bible. Below are some of the major events in the Bible:-

When God wanted to cleanse the world with the Great Flood and start over, He caused rain to fall for 40 days and 40 nights. (Gen 7:12)

Noah waited another 40 days after it rained before he opened a window in the Ark. (Gen 8:6)

Moses lived among the Egyptians until age 40 before he fled to Midian. He spent 40 years living as a shepherd in Midian before God called him to save the Israelites from slavery. (Acts 7:23, Acts 7:30)

Moses was on the mountain for 40 days with God (Twice). (Exo 24:18, Exo 34:28-29, Deu 10:10)

The 12 spies took 40 days to search out the Promised Land and bring back fruit. (Num 13:25)

The Israelites wandered for 40 years in the wilderness before they reached the Promised Land. (Deu 8:2) (Exo 16:35) (Num 14:33-34)

Goliath came for 40 days before being killed by David. (1 Sam 17:16)

Elijah, strengthened by one ‘angelic’ meal, travelled 40 days and 40 nights to reach Mount Horeb where he met the Lord. (1 Kings 19:8)

Through Jonah, God gave the City of Nineveh 40 days to repent before God will destroy the city. The people repented in those 40 days and God spared the city. (Jonah 3:4 and 10)

Several kings and leaders in the Bible ruled for 40 years like Saul (Acts 13:21), David (2 Sam 5:4), Soloman (1 Kings 11:42), Joash (2 Kings 12:1), Eli (1 Sam 4:18)

The Israelites were delivered into the hands of the Philistines for 40 years when they did evil in the eyes of the Lord (Judges 13:1)

The maximum number of stripes or lashes allowed for whipping punishment under the Mosaic law is 40. (Deu 25:1-3)

Jesus fasted for 40 days in the wilderness before beginning His ministry. (Mat 3:17, Mat 4:1-2)

Jesus was seen on the earth for 40 days after His resurrection before He ascended to heaven. (Acts 1:3 NIV)

Whether it is days or years, the number 40 in the Bible always relates to a period of testing, trial, probation, chastisement or judgment and consistently ends with a period of restoration, renewal or revival.

Therefore with Datuk Seri Najib helming the nation as the new Prime Minister just before the 40th anniversary of the May 13 incident, we can believe and trust God that there will be coming a period of restoration and renewal for our land. For the Church of Jesus Christ in Malaysia, we can trust God for a fresh revival to sweep across this nation.

But merely believing and trusting God for good things to come is not enough. We need to go back to the Bible to see what He requires of us before He opens the window of heaven and pour forth His blessings.

In 2 Chronicles 7:14, God says, “ If my people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Therefore, brothers and sisters, we need to do these 3 things first:-

1. Humble ourselves before God.
2. Pray for God’s forgiveness for our sins and the sins of our nation, and the killings of our fellow Malaysians by our own people 40 years ago.
3. Turn from our wicked ways.

In line with the call by several local churches for a time of prayer on May 13, we, the concerned members (or TTG group, if you want to call us that), wish to encourage all Calvarites and all Christians in Malaysia to set aside May 13, as a special day of prayer and fasting to intercede for our nation of Malaysia. Let us join our hands and hearts in one accord to ask God :

1. For His forgiveness and to heal our land,
2. For His richest blessings on our nation,
3. For His wisdom and guidance on all our ministers and leaders,
4. For justice, fairness, transparency, accountability, integrity and morality to be upheld,
5. For freedom of worship to be preserved,
6. For peace and harmony to prevail in this nation,
7. For a great mighty wind of revival to sweep across this land.

We also encourage fellow brothers and sisters-in Christ overseas who are reading this, to remember us (and our nation of Malaysia) in your time of prayer and devotion. Certainly, we are all one Body in Christ and together, we will see a great miracle for God has something good in store for us in the coming days and in the history of this nation.

So let us set aside some time daily for the next 2 weeks to pray for our land and make a special effort to fast and pray on this coming May 13.

Prayer changes things.

God Bless.

2012? said...

I hope this does not mean we have to wait until 2012 before our current SP is replaced since he started his ministry in CC since 1972. There will probably be less than half who will be still around in CC in 2012 if he is still our SP.

Cute, 2012?, real cute!

Like the article says, "Prayer changes things", so let's pray for God to intervene in Calvary as well. Our God is God of miracles.

May Revival Come... said...

Thanks Calvary Today for reminding us that we are to pray fervently for our nation. When we turn our hearts to God He works in miraculous ways.

May the Lord make a special visitation to the church in Malaysia.... let there be a revival in this land.

But first as CT pointed out there must be humble repentance of Your people before the Lord and a complete yielding and submission before God.

Come Lord Jesus come and revive Your church and bless our land.

Hi CalvaryToday

You are a group who does right when Calvary Church does not.

Right is the sense that you see it fit to pray for our beloved nation. Many other churches, I heard, are doing so. I haven't heard that Calvary Church will do so.

At the point where CC leadership fail miserably, you come in well to succeed admirably.

Halleluya! Praise the Lord! In Christ, Amen

Aiyah! has no one noticed that our church is a stand alone church and do not advertise events organised by other churches.

Even when SP was head of NECF - did CC ever join in when NECF organised a 40 day fasting, etc. Have you ever seen a newsletter published by NECF in CC. When AOG had an anniversary dinner, CC only posted a small notice on the noticeboard - no announcement from the pulpit. We Calvarites were so embarrassed when we were told by friends from another church on the day of the dinner that there is such an event.

BCM had an open day on 1 May - did our church announce it.

Isolation Game said...

CC leadership tries to isolate everyone from outside world. Members are boxed in so that they think only about serving within and giving to CC.

Members only meant to give for CC projects and so that your moneys are not chanelled elsewhere.... CC wants to maintain exclusivity and superiority. Even pastors and leaders do not mix around with other Christian leaders. There is a Chinese saying "pigeoned eyed".. rather unfortunate whereas as Christians we are called to be humble and live a simple lifestyle.

Paul gave us the example that we are to be with the people in whatever estate they are in. Paul could live with much or with little, and his entire purpose in life was to lead others to the Lord.

Our church leaders could have done much better to identify with all, the rich and the poor. Neither was there any need to try to be exclusive or act superior.

The so-called prophecy about CC being a fountain head church has sadly blown up pastors' and BODs' heads and in the end it caused more harm than good!

Time for re-evaluation and self examination by CC pastors and BOD leading to repentance ...and so that God's presence and blessing may be restored to CC again.

Pray for Cleansing & Revival said...

Hi Brethren,

Good that we pray for revival in our land. Our prayer is that everyone born into this world can have his/her right to accept the true and living God in Christ Jesus. Why? Everyone came into this world alone though through parent but not with parent; likewise, everyone leave this world alone and not with parent. So, why not allow everyone the individual choice by his/her will to embrace the faith of his/her own choice. After all, we face God alone - our parents, spouse, children and friends can't represent us.

But before praying for others, let pray for ourselves, one another and Calvary Church which needs cleansing.

In Christ's name. Amen

Analyse Deeper

Actually, the Monies are kept-in within the “WORLD of PG”.
Sadly, on hindsight, we concerned members only recently, realized how He has utilize
the money of the church to boost his own status international stage-- and enjoy the glory showered upon him by those recipients.

Noticed, also, how he SOLITICIT “Testimonies & Praises” and overtly crave for self promotion & Publicity. Among others, the following were the most blatant:

1. The Full colour pages in Calvary News screaming for attention when he had his Tan Sri conferment, even it was dated news.

2. The 30 the Anniversary Book, documenting all “his achievements”
Read the text it’s all FULL of themselves—the G family.
( this was published at the expense of church resources, including the $$$ production costs)

Consider, what is so significant about 30 Years?
( probably, he had the coveted ”Datuk” then. Something he was so very proud of, that REV was even discarded. Action speaks louder the words)

Why, is the servant greater then his Master?

3. Even, as revealed by the CU blog, his CIM Charter carries “TESTIMONIES” to praise what a great man of God he is. ( Those who are familiar with the workings of the Corporate sector-- one would know, “testmonies” of this sort, are all carefully crafted/penned by the author’s Communications team, and specially selected persons are then asked to sign–off to lend credibility.

It’s most tragic, that in spite of all the clear manifestations of PG & family members whose walk is of the world, (proofs and testified by the brave and courageous for TTG), PG and BOD continue to fight nail & tooth for self
preservation at the expense of the Body of Christ. And AOG would not step in to do the right thing.

Seek first His kingdom said...

Matthew 6:33

"Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you."

We are commanded by Jesus to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness. It is all about God's kingdom and God's righteousness, not man's righteousness or good deeds. If it were the latter it would all be as "filthy rags before God".

How sad that pastors can also fall into the worldly trap of craving after all the worldly things... material possessions, wealth, power, position and recognition.

They may preach and even do all the right things but yet lack in the one most paramount thing, that is to love, obey and please God.

However, here for CC case they may preach the right things but do not even do the same, let alone talk about loving, obeying and pleasing God.

The call for repentance is meant for all including pastors and leaders, members and worshippers... whoever who desires to please God.

We pray that we will all humble ourselves before God, confess our sins, turn away from them and seek God's forgiveness and cleansing.

God will surely heal and restore Calvary Church.

May His glory be reflected in His church!

THEOLOGY ALIVE said...

John 12:35

"Walk while ye have the light lest darkness come upon you."

Beware of not acting upon what you see in your moments on the mount with God.

If you do not obey the light,
it will turn into darkness.

"If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!"

The second you waive the question of sanctification or any other thing upon which God gave you light, you begin to get dry rot in your spiritual life.

Continually bring the truth out into actuality; work it out in every domain, or the very light you have will prove a curse.

The most difficult person to deal with is the one who has the smug satisfaction of an experience to which he can refer back, but who is not working it out in practical life.

If you say you are sanctified, SHOW it.

The experience must be so genuine that it is shown in the life.

Beware of any belief that makes you self-indulgent; it came from the pit, no matter how beautiful it sounds.

Theology must work itself out in the most practical relationships.

"Except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees . . ." said Our Lord, i.e., you must be more moral than the most moral being you know.

You may know all about the doctrine of sanctification, but are you running it out into the practical issues of your life?

Every bit of your life, physical, moral and spiritual, is to be judged by the standard of the Atonement.

Silent Majority but Not Blind said...

While we hate the sin, injustice and hypocrisy of our leaders, let us not forget that they are brothers and sisters in Christ. At the personal and human level,I am angry for the way our leaders (SP,SAP,Board of Deacons) has strayed and in a state of denial. But my prayer is that God have mercy on all of us.. God to have compassion on us and deliver us from the "evil one" and the "worldly ways" we often are tempted and succumbed to. I declare the blood of Jesus to cover our beloved CC and to bring healing and deliverance. To return to the simple truth of the Cross, the simple life and the simple anointing of God to break the yoke. I declare that Love of Christ prevail as we seek to expose darkness, hypocrisy and the Pride of Life even in our leaders.
I declare the mighty power of the Holy Spirit to restore back of worship and praise in CC.. He is the Center of our Worship and Praise..not SP and leaders.

The Parable of the Two Sons

Matthew 21:28-32

28. "What do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, "Son, go work today in my vineyard."

29. He answered and said "I will not", but afterward he regretted it and he went.

30. Then he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said " I go, sir", but he did not go.

31 "Which of the two did the will of his father?"

They said to Him, "The first."

Jesus said to them (the chief priests and elders) "Assuredly, I say to you that tax collectors and harlots enter the kingdom of God before you.

32. For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him; but tax collectors and harlots believed him; and when you saw it, you did not afterward relent and believe him."

It is not the initial behaviour or attitude that condemns a person but it is the willingness to change, repent and turn away from one's sins and obey the Father that made the difference.

We can be horrible sinners and be condemned by man but in the sight of God when we repent we are forgiven and accepted by God and renewed in the spirit.

The chief priests and elders failed to enter the kingdom of God because of their own self righteous thinking and stubborn disobedience to the Father.

They wanted to look good infront of men but they failed to please God despite of all the right things they tried to do.

What lessons can we learn from this parable?

Dear Lord Jesus,

Give us a humble and obedient heart to be willing to change from our own sinful ways and to fully yield and obey Your will in each of our lives."

In Jesus' Name we pray... AMEN

Dear "Malaysia in God's loving hand said..." - it may interest you to know that Calvary Church has been praying for our nation for many years now.

Maybe you want to reconsider what you wrote the following:

"Right is the sense that you see it fit to pray for our beloved nation. Many other churches, I heard, are doing so. I haven't heard that Calvary Church will do so."

I am sure Calvary Today will only be too pleased to confirm this?

Truth Committee??? said...

Josh oh Josh again over here. I am no big time Pastor but what is being called here is we all christians and churches together unite in prayer for our nation. Not talking about Calvary Church praying every sunday for the nation.

This is a special awareness that is brought out to us to pray and repent before God. Then we all should fast and pray on 13 May. That's all. Nothing to do with CC praying or not praying every sunday. Please read carefully and don't simply say things during this time of uniting with other christians from all over Malaysia to pray for our nation.

I understand what "Malaysia in God's hand" said and I also understand the important message carried on the blog.

If Josh chooses to split hair over every issue and acting like a policemen, let him post as he wishes. Who is talking about what CC does as a rountine daily/weekly?

Most amazing, it does reveal many things abt Josh as it is hard for him to grasp with historic date/event...

Josh said...

And like I said, Calvary does that as a church too. It is one thing to urge awareness and I truly support the call for christians to pray for our country. But let's be brutally honest and see where the cracks first start...

Anonymous said...

Dear Josh,

Your recent remark surpised me. I am sure you are able to differentiate the call for united prayer meeting for all Churches.

We daily pray for our country, family, friends, right? This is just like "Prayer Emphasis" Week, except that this call incoporates the Body of believers in our beloved country.

Jesus Christ has reminded us not to forget the assembling of ourselves together and I hope we Calvarites are not confining ourselves within ourselves. We also sing the song "Bind us together Lord"..... I hope we all understand that it means ALL Christians.

Someone recently reminded me that the cultist Jim Jones took his concregation away from other Chrstian believers and ask them only to believe in him. He started right but ended up wrong....

Let us open up our minds and not be myopic.

Silence is golden said...

Hello Josh,

You seem to be a hughly self-important person and enjoying making controversial statement like the most recent "but let's be brutally honest and see where the cracks first start..."

I can perceive where you are coming from. Again. attributing the blame for the present CC saga squarely unto the group first calling for transparency truth and good governance and now calling for this country historic event's prayers and healing for the nation and the surviving families of the innocent victims who died 40 years ago.

Never heard of "silence is golden"

What to voice out ? said...

All church members are now given the opportunity to attend the "small groups" meeting.

In this small groups meeting, Senior Pastor and Board of deacons will be there.

Purpose of meeting is to clear allegations.

So, what questions to ask ?

Ask at the AGM not at secret meetings. said...

To What to voice out?

Yeah starting tonight, meeting with church leaders. Was told to ask all the question at this meeting and then cannot ask anymore at the AGM.

They are "witch hunting" again. They want to flush out and put disobedient voting members to associate member so cannot vote against them at the AGM. I think we better shut up.

SILENCE IS GOLDEN is a timely reminder. We should all keep silent so they don't know who the potential problem members are.

What questions to ask? NOTHING.

ALL QUESTIONS SHOULD BE ASKED AT THE AGM, NOT AT SOME SECRET MEETINGS. This is exactly how the BOD meetings are held previously and then other members are left out and then suddenly it becomes EVERYBODY IS AGREEABLE.

The Last Straw said...

Hello all Calvarites(present & past),

It is brethen/sisters such as whatever their acronyms who are seriously a part of the spiritual problem and on-going unsatisfactory state of affairs taking place inside Calvary Church since recent revelations of bad practices.

They extend a "loyal" helping hand to the perpetrators of the wrong-doings and encourage the church leadership to cruise along as if all wrong doings never exist or perhaps buried underground after two EGMs and a so-called Task Force gathering.

They are the chorus lines for often quoted:-
Let God be God
Touch not God's anointed
Consider the plank in you eyes before you judge another person
and the most absurd defensive stance is "a church cannot apply the corporate/business place practice" Excuse me do they know what they say or just "parroting" the bosses.

Unashamedly, we are no where near corporate/business place good practice considering the lack of church governance discipline and financial management(or good stewardship of church funds and assets)

What's CC claim to fame in the spiritual realm as a fountainhead church. A obstinate senior pastor who is supported by a majority number of deacons and associate pastors to make just cosmetic changes. I too believe in God's plan and purpose but it does require a human being to lift up his hand of assistance as an agent of spiritual reforms. Dr. Lum who has spoken up has been unceremiously "kicked" out. Remember truth itself does not change things. But TRUTH applied transforms lives.

Intimidation and removal of church positions continue to be practiced unabated like a weapon of mass destruction telling worshippers whom the leadership is uncomfortable with to leave the church

The leadership's propaganda has been effective as you now have a remaining core group of life-group leaders much brainwashed clueless and directionless. Never in the history of the Church, Life-group leaders have to assembled so frequently to soak in so much propaganda.

Stand up to be counted if we all wish to make a difference in CC. Yes, senior pastor's fight and resistance is to save CC too but we should by now know his personal agenda well enough.

Be further misled at your own risk and suffer the consequential spiritual abuse. Several of our friends have scattered to other churches because they are unable to go through the pain and we can understand their decision.

Thanks Anonymous @12.54am for your version. This sounds more like the SP or shd he be referred to as SENIOR EXECUTIVE PASTOR (SEP) from now on.

How come from the same king's horses' mouths come different instructions?

What to voice out and Ask at the AGM say they were told to ask questions at these "by invitation only" meetings.

Anonymous @ 12.54am say they are to listen to explanation and no questions asked meeting.

Looks like even information from the horses' mouth, we get different versions - please, please, SP/SEP and BOD and APs, please be consistent in the way you run the Church of Jesus Christ.

Don't be two faced or two headed. You have to stop telling one group this and another group that. You are the people causing confusion in the church, not the TTG brothers and sisters.

Warning on the meetings said...

Wow! SP is really ....!

By dividing the members in smaller group this will curtail questions. No questions mean approval given by members!! Wow! what a move!

Whatever is brought out and explained - to them if there is no objection the members have agreed and accepted their explanations. Therefore no need to resolve them anymore. Clever isn;t it?

Remember how the members were fooled into voting for the CCC. That was how they got approval.

Now for all these small group meetings they have the same intention. Whatever is raised, no objections, explanation is accepted and passed.

BE VERY CAREFUL WHAT MATTERS ARE BROUGHT OUT. There are matters that although agreed by the BOD, the members need to ratify them at the AGM or an EGM. Let us not be hoodwinked.

God please be in control of the situation.

His Peace said...

Dear Calvarites,

I earnestly ask you to think about this.

We are a church and not a NGO or society or a political party.

Why is it that our Senior Pastor always has to resort to having pre-meetings with the church leaders, staff and church workers before any AGM and EGM?
Telling them to ask the questions during these meetings and then instructing them not to ask any questions during the AGM or EGM. Are we not all equal in the sight of God? Does it not give the impression that there are two groups of people in the church? One group belonging to the pastors, leaders, church workers and staff, and the other the remaining members of the church.

It somehow shows some similarity of a public company calling for an AGM or EGM, and the 'management' is strategizing how to 'handle' the shareholders. Why? Why do we have to act in such a manner in a church? Is this biblical or scriptural? Is God pleased to see it being run in such a manner? Is there anything to prevent the second group from knowing?

So the first group of members would be under some strong virtual pressure not to ask questions in the AGM/EGM and must also be seen to support SP in whatever motions he want to pass, otherwise no work or no church position.

Why? Are we serving God or man? Why do we fear man more than God? Did God call you to serve in church so that you can have three meals each day, a car to drive and a house to stay? Is that the basis of your calling?

I am not suggesting that you take the anti-establishment stand or to go against your leaders or employers. But be a man, a Christian one, and stand up in the sight of God and do what is right and pleasing to GOD and not to any particular person.

Pray about it and see which one gives you HIS peace in your heart and mind.

Why do we have to have this kind of strategy thing? Sounds to me it is more like a political party.

And of course, these leaders, staff and church workers would not dare to go against him. Some are concerned about their livelihood and some about the positions they hold in church. But I do believe that not all of these people are so blinded as

However their "All members" - do they really mean all members or selected members. Do they mean voting members only. What about the associate members - are they called to attend the meetings

How they could call each member to attend and embrace ALL MEMBERS has yet to be seen. Will all these meetings continue until AGM

Dear Members Right,

If the meetings are for members, how come they did not announce it in the church or put up any notice. How come I was not informed? I heard it from a third party less than 48 hours ago.

All those that I mentioned in the first group are members too, so why are you implying?

What kind of church that has to do all these activities or meetings? To fight against who?

Forgotten said...

Hi Fed Up on May 2, 11.32 AM
U are right,CC does not announce BCM Open Day and I totally forgotten about it. Interesting to note that we are ignorant of NECF, BCM or any other church'events all these years. But when CC organize any event, we were told to invite friends, make it known to the public, it doesn't matter Christians from other churches can also come. The more the better - oh, offering $$$$$$$$ also goes up. They are so afraid of loosing attendance, and so offering lah. By having BIG attendance - BIG$$ loh. And by so keeping the members in the dark from all outside activites, they are doing members more harm than good. Now we can see their secret agenda.

Didn't the Lord told us to love one another, fellowship with the saints? So We are not to confined ourselves to CC only, but to also to extend our fellowship with other Christian brothers and sisters as well. We are not a stand alone church. Jesus is the true Vine and we are the branches, we need to bear fruits and so by interacting with one another, Christians and non Christians.

Ask the church lah! Why not announce or put up notice.

They could also come up with the excuse - phone you but you did not answer, could not get you. Sent you an email - didn't you receive it.

They have all sorts of excuses to answer your "why am I not contacted", especially to those whom they would not want them to attend (less questions and easier to say "no objections- everything we presented were accepted")!!

Hi Forgotten,

Your comment about "we are (kept) ignorant of NECF, BCM or any other church's events all these years" brings to mind PG's words from the pulpit some years ago.

PG said that "there are many organisations out there soliciting for funds, etc.; you DON'T have to give them anything. You just give to the church (CC) & our church will then decide who we give to &/or how we use the funds collected" or words to that effect.

Thanks be to God for raising the TTG members to whom God revealed the RM 1.9 million which was quietly transferred to his personal CIM account over the past few years. Now we know the TRUE rationale for PG's plea that we should NOT give to others but we should give to CC - so that ALL Calvarites' funds will come in to CC & not be allowed to "leak" elsewhere; then PG (approved??? by BOD) can quietly siphon the RM 1.9 million.

Looks like PG is a real sxxxxxx !

Thanks be to God that by His revelation, this ungodly act of quietly transferring CC's funds to CIM's account has apparently been stop.

I am a voting member but did not receive any invitation to go for any meeting whatsoever...hmmm

Wait for your turn said...

Voting member, wait for your turn man. They got one whole month to slowly meet with the members.

My friend from Chinese Dept also got invitation to go meeting tomorrow.

I heard the youth will also have same meeting specially for them also.

Wonder why they cannot do this at the coming AGM. So much of time spent explaning group by group. If only they are so serious about real Missions and evangelism work.

Any of the pastors and deacons will join in the street ministry and door to door evangelism 2moro?

God's calling said...

Dear PCK, did he really say that? Oh my goodness. Looks like it shows where his heart is. More on money than God's calling. In the May/June Calvary News, he mentioned about his father always tell him what his father wanted him to be when he grows up. But he did not indicate what that was in the News. I really wonder what it is.

Great Liar! said...

If anyone announced that last night's meeting and this Saturday's meetings are for all church members, then that person must be the GREATEST LIAR!

Both my wife and I are voting members of the church. My wife was invited by one of the pastors but I was not.

Based on what I was told, I just cannot imagine how PO can lied to those present.

God's Calling on 8 May at 9.14 PM

U don hv 2 wonder or figuure out what it is. Let me read to u a portion of the story written by his spoiled princess - extracted from the 30 years faithful service - "Although my father came from a Christian home, his father's ambition for him was to fulfill his desire for his youngest son (PG1) to enter the LEGAL PROFESSION. So u can c by his twists and turns, he can make a very successful and cunning lawyer.

Very Sad said...

When the TTG had meeting with the members, they were accused of causing division and confusion to the church. But when the BOD who sits on the "tripot" and the puppet APs called for meeting with the members, what do u call that? They have to come to a stage like this - men most pitiful. The church has become a political ground - very sad.

To Great Liar

Cool it, cool it.

When the pastor calls the wife or the husband, it is understood that means that the husband and wife can go together. This saves a lot of work :>)

God's Calling said...

Thank you No Need To Wonder. I didnt know that. Is there such a thing as a Legal Pastor? Very 'smart' person indeed.

Pastor Divides Church said...

When the TTG have a meeting, SP says they are causing a division in church. Then you tell me, what they are doing now by calling meetings with a certain and selected section of the church membership, are they not drawing a very distinct line of division. When TTG invites members for the meetings, it was extended to all including the pastors, so you tell me what are doing now and what are they up too.

Dear AG Council, US AG Council, Australia AG Council, Singapore AG Council, do you honestly think what SP is doing is not also causing a division in the church. They are in fact recognizing that there are two groups in Calvary Church. Are you all doing nothing and just watch what will happen to Calvary Church Kuala Lumpur?

How can it happen? Both husband and wife are voting members but only the wife is invited for the meeting and then said that the meeting was for church members.

How long is this going to last?

Repeated calls a Truth Commission said...

Hello Calvarites

Make no mistake. SP is the root cause of today's full-blown problem and is just wishing that the problem will go away.....

He is just applying all methods found in survival kits manual to save his pastoral career and that of the jobs for the whole family as mega income(give that a quick reality check) is seriously at risk. A drowning person will clutch a reed it has often being told.

Most of us are aware that SP and (I said) some pastors and deacons)have misled the congregation over many years so what is so "wrong" to add one more sequels to this church business of holding exclusive meetings of selectively invited members without any for of an announcement to all abt its intent and purpose. Are these less than transparent activities called a start to a healing process?

Get used to witnessing more of the same kind of stuff over the next few weeks as it is AGM and election/reelection season for BODs

If there is absolutely nothing to hide, where is SP so fearful of the setting up of a properly constituted TRUTH Commission to clear his reputation once and for all.

Great Liar! said...

To be fair at 10:46pm

I believe you are making a lot of assumptions. Do you know that there was an attendance list with the names of those invited only? My name wasn't there!!! So, how could you assume that (quoting from your own words) "When the pastor calls the wife or the husband, it is understood that means that the husband and wife can go together. This saves a lot of work :>)"???

Common, if you want to support, supportlah with facts. Don't support blindly. Black is black and white is white. You cannot say otherwise or even it's grey. Your action just reminds me of what happened during the April 2009 EGM, when SP or SEP (the new title) twisted and turned his words in front of all the members present that afternoon. What a shame.

CC AGM Agenda said...

The First Agenda on top of the list

is

1) Removal of SP. Invoking
Article Xl of the
Church Constitution
for Unscriptural Conduct

We will follow example of Perak State Assembly. If the Speaker refuses to vacant, then he shall be physcially removed by force.

No point having a night long AGM & it ends up nowhere until the cows come home.

Secondly, we do not want poor Dr. Lum to sit there all night through.

Instead of the truth is out there,
we want the truth to be in there.

2) All the APs & Ps & BOD shall be also removed and will be re-elected by
the members.

There are many more but these 2 are priorities.

Can we have an ayes on these 2.

(Note: CT, Please dont censor this comment )

Agree with Great Liar! said...

Hey To be Fair, I agree with Great Liar! The meeting was like going to ISA. Members cannot to talk to each other. You cannot simply walk in any room and cannot enter if your name is not on the list. Each room not more than 20 people with about 6 appointed speakers. I think we were separated to 4 or 5 rooms. Sounds serious eh.

If what To be Fair say is true, then Dr. Lum won't have to sit outside last EGM for 5 hrs while his wife was inside the church.

Voting Member said...

Dear Great Liar....calm down, brother..can't say we are shocked that you were not invited but your wife was as i think this is definitely a selective sort of meeting. no way are they gonna invite all voting members as I still have not received any call or email invitation. doubt they will invite me as they know my strong stand against what they are doing. probably the same reason why they didnt invite you...but oh well, let's just wait for the AGM then.

Huge Big Mess said...

Why are the SP, APs and BOD stooping so low to playing games to entice members to try and win sympathy votes from them by telling more lies and underminding what is the truth of matters in CC?

Why do they have to spend so much time to call for small group meetings when they already announced the AGM? somemore telling members that whatever concerns and proposed resolutions must be discussed in AGM and not at EGM etc?

It is becoming very apparent that the SP, APs and BOD are perpetual liars! Now they are resorting to tell their one-sided stories to hide the truth because they are slipping deeper and deeper into the miry clay!

This is the act of fleshy/worldly people in desperate positions. It is a do or die case!

The more they play all these tricks and games on members the more they show their downright lack of intergrity and character.

They are stooping to less than normal man... there is absolute loss of godly characteristics in CC pastors and BOD and sadly no fear of God.

What kind of Christian leaders do we have?

This is really a disgrace to the Christian community. Furthermore boasting that they lead a fountainhead church?

All the manuovering and twists and turns by the SP, APs and BOD until the road is kind of knotted into a huge big mess.....

Pure Intimidation said...

WhaT? Not more than 20 members in a room and with 6 speakers?

If that is not intimidation, then what is it?

What does Bible says to those who scheme?

Put you in a smaller group, so you dare not stand up to ask too many questions. To show you who is boss.

THEN DONT ATTEND IF YOU ARE INVITED? WHAT DOES IT BENEFIT YOU?
WHY THE CHURCH DO SUCH A THING?

DEAR AG COUNCIL MALAYSIA, BOLEHKAH MACAM INI? ARE WE A CHURCH OR POLITICAL PARTY? REMEMBER THIS, WHAT IS HAPPENING IN CALVARY CHURCH WILL HAVE A HUGE IMPLICATION ON AG IN MALAYSIA. CAN YOU AFFORD TO SIT AND WATCH?

Think About It said...

SEP, SAP, APs, and the BOD want to show that they are powerful and no one can challenge them.
But they hv forgotten that JESUS IS ALL POWERFUL

SEP, SAP, APs and the BOD thank that they are very wise in all their doings ....
But they hv forgotten that JESUS IS IS ALL WISE

SEP, SAP, APs and the BOD think that they can lord over the sheep of His pasture
But they hv forgotten that JESUS IS LORD OF LORDS and KING OF KINGS
HE IS THE LORD OF ALL

SEP, SAP, APs and the BOD think that they tell lies
But they hv forgotten that JESUS IS FULL OF GRACE AND TRUTH, NOTHING CAN ESCAPE FROM HIS SIGHT

Think about it .... what will be the consequence of not fearing God

Also Voting Member said...

I went for the session on Thursday night. I asked questions. So did others in the group. In fact, we were encouraged to ask questions by the presenters. My personal experience was that I didn't feel that there was any atmosphere of intimidation or fear. I felt quite free to ask what I needed to. Of course, I don't know what happened in the other groups. I can only speak for myself.

Bird's Eye View said...

Huge Big Mess commented that "It is becoming very apparent that the SP, APs and BOD are perpetual liars!"

I have to agree 100% with him/her.

At the Easter Sunday Service, I had a bird's eye view of the whole stadium. I saw the ushers, who came back after sending the 1st offering to the counting room, handing over the emptied offering bags to other ushers & I told myself that they would take a 2nd offering later.

I was shocked that SP (after preaching) stated that "we had not planned for a 2nd offering but I was moved by the Spirit (during my preaching) to take a 2nd offering for CCC".

Now that's a BLATANT LIAR & he calls himself a senior pastor. Shame on you, SP; what example are you showing to one & all - that pastors can lie?

Over the past month, I spoke to some Calvarites & I learnt that not only were the ushers informed that morning that there would be a 2nd offering but ER had also informed the counting team of the 2nd offering. Yet, SP can tell a lie without batting an eyelid. Looks like he is a pathological liar.

Why is SP still lying & using God's Name in vain? Will God bless the works of a liar, especially one who uses His Name in vain?

Then SP "apologises" to the whole congregation that "if I had ...."; I would think that the "apology" is also a lie.

Watch out SP - liar, liar; your pants will be on fire.

PANDEMIC ALERT D1 L1

The likening ofPG as a Politician is so apt.

PG’s spirit of Fear somehow still hover over the recalcitrant BOD.
Their present gathering the Life Group leaders and others serving as ‘leaders’ is exactly like holding an election ‘Ceramah’, only in this case it is for the coming AGM of the Church, on 19 June 2009.

SLY MODUS OPERANDI
It is so obvious, PG & BOD are trying to preempt the Resolutions submitted by Concerned members, by spreading D1 L1 virus to all those they ‘hauled-up’ to gather at different venues over a two week period—with each of these ‘Ceramahs’ chaired by assigned Ass Pas and a member of the BOD.

Their ‘objective’ is to answer ANY question the leaders may have and they will Explain ‘THEIR SIDE’ of the story concerning the disunity in CC, and all the ruthless ways they have committed towards those who were bold and courageous to speak-up for TTG— even the YOUTH leaders were not spared ( at least half a dozen had already been removed from serving just in the recent weeks!)

Their aim is to ‘convince’ these leaders, or at least gain their Sympathy. They will then be told to return to their Life Group and ‘share’ with their members.
( to Ensure, they tow PG's line at the AGM)

ALERT
Those attending need to ask 2 crucial questions.
1.Why they are the only ones and not the ENTIRE congregation be privy to what PG & BOD have to say on these issues?
( Don’t be DECIEVED to feel self- important, as PG would like you to think. Beware this is D1)

2. Why is Life Group being UTILISED as PG’s communication dissemination Centre?
(Has the Life Group ever been challenged to take up community projects or some worthy cause in a well conceived programme-- short & long term?)

The truth is CC’s Life Group is ‘Inward-looking’ just feeding among the few within—to a point of nothing more than a ‘Feel Good fellowship’ evening!
But it is also PG's Effective Power Base, to be MOBILISED at his disposal, as in this crisis.
(Beware L1)

HOW TO AVOID BEING CONTAMINATED
1. If you have yet to attend, but will be, then
ensure you put God’s Amour to deflect D1 L1.

2. If you have already attended, then QUARANTINE yourself—Pray & Fast for Discernment between Truth and D eception & L ies

DO NOT BE AN AGENT of D1 L1
Keep watch. Let your own Conviction of TTG be based on God’s Kingdom Values.

Yes, agreed with CC AGM Agenda.

I am surprised with so much talk,
there is no NATO ( No Action
Talk Only )

Get rid of the root problem and the matter will be settled.

If there is a cancer in you, do you allow the cancer to grow ?

By all means, do all that is legally constitutional.

Invite K K Wong, The General Superintendent of AOG council
or even Dr. Guynes or Dr Cho Yonggi
to come for this AGM.

Please do something and not Blog after blog....

I think the people are getting tired with no solution on hand.

God's Battle n Plan said...

W.H.O.

Your analogy of the new yet old strain of D1L1 virus in CC to H1N1 flu is very correct. It is deadly and can cause havoc. But thank God we can look to God who is almighty and all powerful and the cure is from God. He is the Source of healing.

We pray that all members who have been called and briefed will exercise care and caution and listen with discernment.

God has placed in members the antibodies in the form of the Holy Spirit and the Word in their hearts; so they will be able to deflect off all the lies and know the truth. The truth will set them free from lies and deception.

When it is sin no matter what SP, APs and BOD call it 'shortcomings or oversight' or how they try to justify and explain it away, it is still sin in God's eyes. Black is black and not grey or lighter shade of black etc....

If the pastors and BOD give half truths or try to deflect the wrongs to others (the concerned members or Dr Lum who brought the issues to light) they will not be absolved of their wrongs.

Jesus has given us very explicit kingdom rules how to conduct and manage ourselves and for all matters pertaining to life on earth.

SP, APs and BOD cannot make their own rules in dealing with serious issues in CC, just like how they handle the Dr Lum 'sham hearing', and now to play their own games to win the battle of hearts and minds.

Now they are resorting to guerilla warfare. That is their strategy but God's will and plan cannot be thrawted by men no matter how smart they think they are!

The battle belongs to God and He will prevail against all wrongs and the works of men to cover up their own wrongs will be exposed!

We shall yield to God's sovereign power and plan and surely His righteousness shall overrule all. Our God is a jealous God and a God of wrath. He shares His glory with no one... AMEN

SP Secret Ministry said...

Calvary Church is the only church where the members do not know where the SP is preaching or ministering when he is not in the church on a Sunday morning.

All these years, it is mostly kept a secret. Either they wont say anything about his absence or they would just mention he is away ministering.

Just look at the recent cases.
Today, the church just announced he is away ministering but did not mention where.

Last Sunday, Pastor PO was ministering. What was amazing was that it was a Mission Sunday and it was communion Sunday. Both SP and SAP were not around and no announcement was made of their whereabout.

This is how secretive Calvary Church. Maybe we should call ourselves Calvary Secret Society.

Isnt it appropriate for the church to keep the members know of their SP whereabout in terms of where he is ministering, other than in other satellite chuches in KL. Dont we pay for his expenses when he minister overseas. But how many times do they announce his whereabout? On a score of 10, I think it is 1.

Hello to SP Secret Ministry,

It is not too late to know about the unhealthy and un-biblical practices of Calvary Church. It is not just a question of control and dictatorial power. It is now clearly demonstrating for all to witness its true colour in holding selected and small groups "brainwashing" or KGB-style meetings just before an annual re-election and election of deacons and an important church general meeting. Many desire and ask for transparency and openness and the leadership has responded with closeness and selective dialogue sessions to pan out more half-truth and more bedtime stories. Do such activities promote or harm spiritual harmony goodwill and healing? Where a leadership has a good explantion, please put that down and disseminate to all via the Calvary Newsletter as a supplementary edition. All the promises for "Way Forward" and better communication are just as hollow and insincere as weekly sermons and weak instructions.

There's another example I wish to share with bloggers. The Life Group leaders are routinely issued specific instructions to record and submit notes of all life-group meetings especially matters with regards to members' testimonies. The written notes are submitted to the pastor in charge.

Hence, our church knows everything about its congregation. As more and more not so proper church's practices unfold, I am beginning to wonder and seek assurance as to how the congregation can depend on the leadership's honesty and sincerity in avoiding the temptation to use personal information against any particular voting member for this forthcoming AGM....

When CC needs to make references to the notes and records, any congregation member can be read like an open book.

Pause and give a thought about this way of collecting information which can be very detrimental to members if any person in the leadership chooses to make use of the personal lives of members in an improper manner.

I suggest that we do away with keeping notes and records of LG meetings.
