Last week, the group of concerned members, better known as the TTG group, submitted two proposed resolutions to the Secretary of the BOD, to be included in the agenda for the coming EGM on this Saturday, 4th April at 2pm.
Both resolutions pertain to the recent arbitrary termination of Dr Lum’s church membership and sought to seek the approval of the members to declare his termination by the BOD as NULL and VOID and to allow Dr Lum to attend the EGM.
The resolutions also seek the approval of members to have the Church Constitution amended to include detailed provisions on disciplinary committee, functions and procedures to deal with such matters.
These resolutions are very crucial and the full support of ALL members are of utmost importance. Failure to have Dr Lum’s termination rescinded will set a precedent for our SP and the BOD to wield their powers to arbitrarily terminate ANY member for the slightest misdemeanour.
In conjunction with this Saturday’s EGM, CT is calling for 3-day prayer and fast beginning Wednesday through Friday. Please pray along with us for :
1. God’s presence this Saturday to bless the meeting, pray that the leadership will allow the resolutions to be tabled.
2. A good turnout of members and that they will be bold to stand up for truth, good governance, righteousness and fairness.
3. God’s Restoration of truth, transparency and good Godly governance in the Church so that He may use Calvary Church as the true fountain head church for His glory.

Well Done!!!
I think the call to prayer is good. Everyone should approach this with Godly care.
What escapes me is the resolution tabled to have Dr Lum's dismissal rescinded. In that respect he is to be declared wrongly dismissed while the BOD is unequivocally wrong? It should be a resolution to appeal the dismissal to prove him right... There is a world of difference to consider.
Keep up the good fight of faith!
Lamentations 3:22-26
22. Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed,
for His compassions never fail.
23. They are new every morning;
great is Your faithfulness.
24. I say of myself, "The LORD is my portion;
therefore I will wait for Him."
25. The LORD is good to those whose hope is in Him,
to the one who seeks Him;
26. it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.
Surely God is good, faithful and righteous. He will cleanse and renew His church and restore justice and righteousness to CC!
OUR GOD REIGNS!
Praise be unto the Lord for TTG which dares to stand up Truth, Transparency and Good Governance.
The move to invalidate the removal of Dr Lum as a member of Calvary Church is not just about an individual who is held in high esteem by many, but more importantly, it's THE RIGHT THING TO DO. The events leading to Dr Lum's removal is very high (or is it low???) handed, unscriptural, shameful and definitely against the law of natural justice, to say the least.
TTG, you have my FULL SUPPORT, and I'll get many more to support your move.
Shalom,
Simpleman
Dear Josh
Perhaps you've not read through the constitution on termination of membership. There're 3 "un-christian traits" that a member must be guilty of before he can be axed. That means Dr Lum must be guilty of all 3 before he can be axed. Dr Lum has been accused of only 1 out of the 3.
Further, the BOD must consult the Elders before a member can be terminated. Since our church has no Elders, technically, the BOD cannot sack anyone.
By terminating Dr Lum, the BOD is liable to a legal suit by him if he takes up the case. This shows how careless our BOD is, no regard or respect for rules.
We badly need a change of the BOD members.
The removal of Dr Lum as a longstanding member of CC is definitely UNSCRIPTURAL and has most certainly BREACHED and FAILED to comply with the rules of NATURAL JUSTICE.
BOD, can you explain to my simple mind how in the world did Dr Lum’s action in "telling the truth" tantamount to:
a) walking disorderly; AND
b) departing from the stated Tenets of Faith; AND
c) unrepentant of unscriptural conduct
God’s Eternal Word does not list "telling the truth" as one of the sins of "walking disorderly". In the light of God’s teachings, I find the entire episode down right BAFFLING and LUDRICIOUS.
If we allow such a decision to stand (which should rightly fall as it doesn’t have any basis whatsoever based on Biblical truth and natural justice), Calvary Church Kuala Lumpur will definitely be the LAUGHING STOCK of not only the Christian community in Malaysia but elsewhere too. Worse still, if potential believers know of such injustice, it will most certainly be a big, big STUMBLING BLOCK to them to know our Saviour for He’s THE TRUTH and JUSTICE. They will find it IRRECONCILABLE.
I sincerely appeal to the BOD in the name of our Good Lord to do that which is RIGHT and NOT that which seems right, for God is our witness.
Stand up for the TRUTH and not for a mere man!
God's Truth Bearer,
Ah Beng No. 2
(Hi! Ah Beng, I’m back)
Dear All,
We must vote for Dr Lum to be reinstated and be allowed to attend the EGM to prove himself right as what our bro, Josh said, "It should be a resolution to appeal the dismissal to prove him right..."
Let Dr Lum attend so that he can prove himself right in the presence of all interested church members and not only to the Kangaroo Court.
Dear SM... going by that technicality - i.e. that the church has a "3 strikes you are out" policy - anyone can commit murder, adultery and still be a member. Or the fact that we do not have elders hence even that is not enforceable?
Rightfully or not, I believe the perceived gravity of the problem is also a factor for consideration.
The attitude with which one goes to the EGM will also matter, hence I applaud the call to prayer. But it should be one that is for truth - God's truth, and not some human intervention borne out of experience only.
I believe one does this by starting with the plank in his or her own eye... and that is applicable to the BOD, the forumers here and especially to TTG if you want to take the higher ground.
PRAY WITHOUT CEASING
No matter how dark and hopless a situation might seem, never stop praying. It's not only to resolve our problems that we should pray, but to share in the strength of God's friendship. For us, prayer should be not merely an act, but an attitude of life.
When we come to the end of ourselves, we come to the beginning of God. We don't need to be embarrassed that we are needy. God doesn't demand that we pray with eloquence. Every feeble, stumbling prayer uttered by a believer is heard by God. A cry, a sigh, a "Help!" are all prayers.
One lesson that Jesus would teach us is the victorious assurance that God answers every true petition.
In the morning, prayer is the key that opens to us the treasures of God's mercies and blessings; in the evening, it is the key that shuts us up under His protection and safeguard.
Taken from "Unto the hills" Words of Hope and Comforts by Billy Graham
We must always remember that our ultimate and certain help comes from the Lord who made the mountains and the valleys. King David expressed it beautifully:
"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth
Psalm 121
It is reassuring to know that God is still all-powerful, that nothing touches us without His permission. Things happen to us that we cannot understand, but we never doubt God's love. In the hour of trial we may not be able to see His design, but we are confident it must be in line with His purpose.
The Bible makes it clear that no problems in our lives are too great or too small for His concern. He cares about everything that affects His children
WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS
"What a Friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a priviledge to carry
Everything to God in prayer.
Oh! What peace we often forfeit
Oh! What needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer.
Have we trials and temptations
Is there trouble anywhere
We should never be discouraged
Take it to the LORD in prayer.
Can we find a Friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share
Jesus knows our every weakness
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak and heavy laden
Cumbered with a load of care
Precious Saviour still our refuge
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee
Take it to the Lord in prayer
In His arms He will take and shield thee,
Thou will find a solace there."
Truly this beautiful and familiar hymn is a good reminder to us that we have a true and faithful Friend in Jesus, who understands and is there for us no matter what storms and pain that we have to go through.
Sing along and be encouraged... By JESUS our Saviour and true Friend.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You, as always, for Your abundant blessings.
I may never know until I reach heaven how many times You have had Your angels protect me from the wicked one.
I do appreciate You watching over me and my loved ones.
Lord, I pray this day for all of the backsliders.
Lord, draw them back to Yourself. Forgive them and be merciful to them.
Thank You, that Your mercy endureth for ever.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
Lord, thank you for correcting me when I have missed You in some way.
I do want to stay on the path of life.
Keep Your children in the path of holiness and righteousness.
I ask this in the name of Jesus.
Amen.
Since CT called for fast and prayer for 3 days, let's put in a prayer.
Let God's consuming fire flows and burnt all the unrighteousness and injustice.
LET US ASK GOD TO BUILT HIS THRONE ONCE AGAIN IN OUR CHURCH.
RIGHTEOUSNESS AND JUSTICE ARE THE FOUNDATION OF HIS THRONE.
LET GOD ARISE
LET GOD ARISE
LET GOD ARISE
AMEN
Hi Ah Beng No. 2,
I am back BUT first let us pray .....
Heavenly Father, our hearts cry out to You over the injustice committed in CC over the years by PG & BOD, especially over the last 13 months.
Oh God, how can PG & BOD, who claim to be Christians, be so unChristian in their treatment of our dear Dr Lum who had served the church so selflessly as a deacon for 11 years? Is this what we Christians should do? Treat our brother like a "used tissue" to be discarded when we have used them.
God, may You have mercy on PG & BOD even as You mete out Your punishement, by bringing Your Holy Fire, upon them & upon the church.
Father God, we remember their past good deeds but we know they have been led astray by the Evil One & we stand in the gap for them & their misdeeds that You will have mercy upon them as You mete out Your punishment for surely "Enough is Enough" for they have NOT heeded Your warnings & rebuke that You have sent through the various ones, including through the TTG members.
Lord God, may Your Holy Will be done through all this mess at CC. We do not understand how You work but we trust that You are in control & that something good will come out from all this.
In Jesus' Name, Amen !!!
The proposal to reinstate Dr. Lum is a move in the right direction. He was denied natural justice.
The basic principles of natural justice are as below and it was not evident in the inquiry:
1. Justice must not only be done
but must seen to be done;
2. No person shall be condemned
unheard;
3. The panel must not be seen as
biased or even appear biased.
Did the inquiry fulfill the above criteria?
After reading the alternative blogs touching on the same subject, these alternative blogs who claim to be neither pro-SP nor pro-TTG nor linked in any way to the Church administration, have diverted from their so-called principles.
The Missions Department Welfare fund is to help those who have unexpected needs, difficulties and hardships. Do the granddaughter, deacon's son and the pastor's daughter (these two comments said to be speculated) come under the above category and qualify to get the funds. Are there records that show that deserving members/nonmembers had received such aids besides SP's granddaughter, deacon's son and pastor's daughter?
Though the alternative blogs have created an issue of the quantum of the gym fees as mentioned by Dr. Lum, the quantum is not the big question, the big question is whether the Church paid for it. Wah! Two years to get fit in a gym for the Mt Kinabalu expedition. I think Pastor Steven was also on the expedition but maybe not fit enough for the climb because he did not "qualify" for the subsidy?
If rank has it's privileges, are there any other subsidies for expenses of a personal nature which members do not know.
Regarding the money given to Dr. Guynes, the issue is not USD nor SGD, but whether it was given without prior approval by the BOD? Was it the cart before the horse? i.e. SP commits the giving then go backward to ask the BOD to ratify it. Is this the first occasion or one of the many instances that had taken place? Isn't this the act of an arrogant man treating the Church's money like his own?
When have the alternative blogs became an organ for the Church? Though they claim not to be! When some members asked to see Church accounts or other documents, they have to fight tooth and nail and in the end, often denied. But this alternative had obtained documents which are from CIM which is a personal ministry. Add that to the high praises they have for the leaders in the Church, your guess is as good as mine whether the alternative blogs are sanctioned by the Church.
I wonder why the Church and the alternative blogs chose to address only 5 issues as covered in Dr. Lum's 23 issues. This is clearly a "pick and choose" practice. Only choose those you can address but keep mum on those you cannot, hoping that concerned readers will be distracted and look at it with a fish's eye view and not a bird's eye view.
There has been much injustice, hypocrisy & lying in the midst of Calvary Church, KL. Grave miscarriages of justice have been committed by the leadership, the pastors & the BOD, as well as the kangaroo court officials, purportedly all done in the Name of God. God's Name have been taken in vain!
The church is supposed to be the vanguard of justice, mercy, truth, transparency, good church governance, stewardship,& brotherly love! What went wrong?
"Shall I not visit for these things," saith the Lord, "shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation [church] as this?"
